Multimodel Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Our growing understanding of how to develop and maintain psychological and emotional balance has led us to a place where we now understand that there's a direct relationship between the dominant thoughts a person thinks, the behaviours they habitually engage in... and how they feel.

Without wishing to sound overly simplistic regarding what for some people can be extremely challenging mental health problems, it's important to realise that how we think literally influences how we feel. Therefore, for example, if we feel bad, and want to feel better instead and are prepared to experiment with other ways of thinking and behaving we will quite likely notice a change for the better (because our changed thoughts will influence our emotions differently).

Positive and negative emotions cannot coexist in equal proportion.  One or other is ascendant while the other is diminished. When a person learns how to choose self-enabling thoughts, emotions and behaviours over self-disabling ones, the positive ones become the dominant state of mind meaning that other less helpful emotions like fear, anxiety and depression cannot take hold so easily. At most they become fleeting experiences that pass, before being overshadowed again by healthier outlooks.

Multimodel Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a form of counselling through which a person learns to become mindful of many hitherto automatic habits (negative thinking, for example) in order to discover how to change them. It includes coaching in a variety of alternative ways of thinking, feeling and behaving in order to improve quality of life.  These approaches include principles from Humanistic Counselling, Hypnotherapy, Life Coaching, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT) and 'Pure' Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), along with the more modern forms of CBT, such as, Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Metacognitive Therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Schema Therapy.

We believe that it's only when all aspects of self are taken into account that true harmony can exist.  Therefore we incorporate elements of many well-known principles into our approach, including visualisation skills, goal setting and spiritual development (in the form of heightened transpersonal awareness) when required.
